Samabriva Opens € Multi-Million Biomanufacturing Facility in Belgium

• Samabriva has unveiled a new € multi-million biomanufacturing facility in Liège, Belgium.

Samabriva, a French biotechnology company, has announced the opening of a 1,400 m² biomanufacturing facility in Liège, Belgium, a central hub in Europe’s biotech valley. This multi-million Euros investment represents a significant step in the company’s strategy to transition from research to industrial-scale production.

The state-of-the-art facility will produce high-value natural molecules using proprietary bioreactors designed for hairy root culture. Set to be operational by early 2025, the first phase will cater to the demands of Samabriva’s international commercial customers.

This development supports the company’s commitment to sustainability and cost efficiency by offering control over the entire biomanufacturing value chain. Chairman of the Board, Pascal Lizin, highlighted, “This new facility represents a significant milestone for Samabriva. It emphasises our commitment to delivering plant-based bioproduction at large scale.”

With GMP-compliant production capabilities, the facility will create new roles in bioproduction, analytics, and quality assurance, further contributing to the local and global biotech economy.
