Description
Biological E. Limited (BE) is an Indian biopharmaceutical company committed to improving global health through the development and supply of quality vaccines and pharmaceutical products.
Founded in 1953 by Dr. D.V.K. Raju, BE began its journey manufacturing liver extracts and anti-coagulants during India's Swadeshi Movement, a time when the nation sought access to critical healthcare products. In 1962, the company expanded into vaccine production, becoming the first private Indian company to do so, with the large-scale manufacture of DPT vaccines. Today, BE operates three strategic business units: Branded Formulations, Speciality Generic Injectables, and Vaccines & Biologics. The company supplies vaccines to over 130 countries and offers therapeutic products in India, the USA, and Europe. BE's portfolio includes nine WHO-prequalified vaccines and ten USFDA-approved generic injectables.

The company has also developed a 14-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, PNEUBEVAX 14™, which has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in infants.
