Rentschler Biopharma Launches Lentiviral Vector Manufacturing in Stevenage

  • Rentschler Biopharma has introduced lentiviral vector manufacturing services at its advanced therapies facility in Stevenage, UK.
  • This expansion complements its existing adeno-associated viral (AAV) vector services, offering a comprehensive suite of gene therapy solutions.

Rentschler Biopharma SE, a global CDMO specializing in biopharmaceuticals and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), has announced the launch of expanded services at its Stevenage, UK site. The new service offering introduces a lentiviral vector (LVV) manufacturing toolbox, enhancing the company’s capabilities in the advanced therapies sector. This expansion complements Rentschler’s existing adeno-associated viral (AAV) vector services.

The addition of lentiviral vector manufacturing is in response to the growing prominence of LVVs in advanced therapy applications, such as gene transfer and cell therapies. These vectors are increasingly used to treat genetic diseases like beta-thalassemia and to modify T-cells for cancer immunotherapy. By integrating LVV manufacturing into its service portfolio, Rentschler Biopharma aims to meet the rising demand from therapeutic developers utilizing these vectors for gene modulation.

Rentschler’s advanced therapies facility in Stevenage now offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to accelerate viral vector programs at every stage, from pre-clinical development through to market readiness. The company provides license-free toolboxes for both AAVs and LVVs, as well as a proprietary HEK293 cell line that is royalty-free, supporting the development of advanced therapies.

Robert Panting, General Manager, ATMP, commented, “The new lentiviral vector manufacturing toolbox highlights our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that enable our clients to advance their viral vector programs from pre-clinical and clinical development to market. By integrating lentiviral vector process development and manufacturing into our services, we are better serving the market by meeting the growing needs of the evolving and vibrant global advanced therapies sector.”
