Vetter, a global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), has successfully completed 100 clinical batches of liquid and lyophilized vials at its Rankweil, Austria facility. The site, which opened in 2021, supports the manufacturing and quality control of medicinal products for clinical trials.
“Since opening our state-of-the-art clinical production site in Austria three years ago, we have witnessed a rapid rise in customer demand,” said Dr. Claus Feussner, Senior Vice President of Vetter Development Service. “This achievement reflects the quality of drug product candidates we manufacture and the reliability we offer to our clients and their patients.”
In response to growing demand, Vetter has announced plans to expand the Rankweil site. The expansion will include a new 14-by-24-meter roof extension, adding a third floor with office space, and a two-story technical building for a workshop and waste disposal. The new facilities are expected to be completed by mid-2025.
A key part of the expansion is the installation of an uninterrupted power supply system, which will make the Rankweil site self-sufficient in power, ensuring consistent production without disruption. This initiative is aimed at boosting production security and maintaining Vetter’s high quality standards.
Dr. Martin Schwab, Vice President and Site Head Austria, noted, “Our success is driven by a strong surge in project orders, and we are committed to further enhancing our clinical production efficiency at Rankweil.” The site is expected to continue its growth trajectory in the coming months, both in production capacity and workforce.
