SMC Ltd., a medical device contract manufacturer, has announced a significant expansion of its facility in Devens, Massachusetts. The 160,000 sq. ft. extension will introduce three new ISO 8 cleanrooms and a cold chain storage warehouse maintained at 2-8 degrees Celsius.
Construction on the expansion will allow SMC to implement a cutting-edge material handling system, optimising product flow throughout the facility. This upgrade is designed to improve efficiency and reliability in the manufacturing process, which is essential for meeting the evolving demands of the healthcare industry.
