- Olon is on track to complete its ultra-potent compound production facility in Rodano, Milan, by January 2025.
- The facility, designed to produce payloads and linker payloads, includes a quality control department, GMP production, and a dedicated storage area.
Olon, a global API provider and contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has confirmed the construction timeline for its advanced facility in Rodano, Milan. Dedicated to ultra-potent compounds, the site will reach full-scale production by January 2025. Currently, the small-scale production area within this facility is operational and validated, marking the first phase of the €25 million investment announced by Olon in May 2023.
Located in Italy, the facility is purpose-built to handle payloads, linker payloads, and ultra-potent APIs. In addition to production areas, it features integrated quality control and storage areas to support safe, contamination-free handling of highly active molecules. According to Marcello Buson, Head of Global Operations at Olon, the facility’s design establishes “a factory within a factory,” combining production, quality control, and warehousing in a streamlined and secure environment.
The Rodano plant is equipped with the latest in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems for product purification and a lyophilizer for isolation, alongside advanced analytical instruments for thorough quality management. Olon plans to merge the new facility’s commercial-scale line with the small-scale line, enhancing efficiency as the company scales up production for ultra-potent APIs.
