Cardinal Health has officially opened a new distribution center in Greenville, South Carolina, specifically supporting its at-Home Solutions business. The 350,000-square-foot facility is set to become the largest distribution hub for this segment of the company, with plans to create around 200 jobs in the region over time.
The new distribution center comes in response to the rapidly growing home healthcare industry, which has seen significant expansion following the COVID-19 pandemic. A recent report by Fortune Business Insights projects the U.S. home healthcare market to grow from over $100 billion in 2024 to $176.3 billion by 2032, driven by an aging population and the increasing prevalence of chronic conditions.
“There’s tremendous growth opportunity as healthcare continues to shift to the home,” said Rob Schlissberg, president of Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions. He added that the Greenville facility would enable the company to meet the rising demand for home healthcare, providing essential medical supplies to patients across the country.
The Greenville region was chosen for its strong manufacturing and distribution industry, which offers a skilled workforce capable of supporting the facility’s operations. Hank Hyatt, Senior Vice President of Economic Competitiveness for the Greenville Chamber, welcomed the new distribution center, highlighting the region’s suitability for Cardinal Health’s needs.
Local employees will work alongside state-of-the-art automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics technology to ship nearly 8,000 packages daily. These packages will include a wide range of home healthcare products, from diabetic supplies to breast pumps and enteral nutrition.
“We often say, ‘When you touch a package, you touch a patient’s life,’ and we take this motto seriously,” Schlissberg noted, emphasizing the facility’s vital role in delivering medical supplies to patients exactly when and where they need them.
