- The North Carolina facility will become Reckitt’s largest OTC manufacturing site in the U.S., with expanded production for Mucinex® and Move Free® and an expected opening in the first half of 2027.

Reckitt has announced a multi-year transformation of its U.S. operations involving up to $600 million in investments across sites in New Jersey and North Carolina. The plans include relocating and integrating commercial and R&D capabilities into a New Jersey campus and expanding the company’s largest OTC manufacturing facility in North Carolina.
The New Jersey development will include a new science and innovation center focused on disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care and personal care. Reckitt said the facility will bring together R&D, scientific capabilities and commercial expertise to support the development of products and move them from concept to shelf. The center will also serve as a germ protection hub within the company’s global R&D network, including work supporting its Lysol portfolio.
Reckitt has also doubled its initial investment in its OTC manufacturing facility in North Carolina. The additional funding will support expanded production capacity for Mucinex® tablets and liquids and increased production volumes for Move Free®. The expanded site will become Reckitt’s largest OTC manufacturing facility in the U.S. and will include a larger physical footprint to support manufacturing flexibility and future capabilities.
The North Carolina facility is expected to open in the first half of 2027. Reckitt said the broader investments are intended to accelerate innovation, improve responsiveness to changing consumer needs and strengthen supply resilience for healthcare products. The company currently employs more than 4,000 people across seven manufacturing sites and three science and innovation centers in the U.S.
“With a legacy dating to 1892, Reckitt has maintained a significant presence across the U.S. for more than a century. Today’s investments will continue building our scientific leadership and R&D, drive new innovations and expand our infrastructure allowing Reckitt to increase access for consumers to high-quality health products.”
