Lifecore Biomedical, Inc., a fully integrated contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), has announced that its high-speed, 5-head isolator filler is now GMP-ready and operational. This new equipment, designed for fill/finish services, will support prefilled syringes, vials, and cartridges, while doubling the company’s current capacity.
The introduction of this system positions Lifecore to offer its customers faster and safer production capabilities, particularly in the context of evolving industry regulations, such as the EU’s Annex 1 requirements. “The system enables us to offer quality and safety enhancements to our global customers,” said Paul Josephs, president and CEO of Lifecore.
Lifecore’s latest technology is intended to improve its expertise in handling complex formulations, such as highly viscous substances, while also expanding its customer base to include more straightforward production projects involving proteins, peptides, and antibodies. The new filler aims to enhance speed and quality control, key factors in today’s pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape.
Darren Hieber, senior vice president of corporate development, expressed optimism about the system’s potential to attract both existing and new customers. “We are highly encouraged by ongoing discussions with customers who recognise our expertise in challenging formulations,” he said, adding that the company looks forward to leveraging the 5-head filler to expand its customer reach.
