Parexel Strengthens CRO Pharmacovigilance Offering Through Vitrana Deal

COMPANY PROFILE
  • Parexel has acquired Vitrana, adding an AI-enabled pharmacovigilance platform to its CRO patient safety services.
  • The deal enables an integrated CRO model combining technology and services to improve efficiency, compliance, and workflow execution.

Parexel announced it has acquired Vitrana, a provider of an AI-enabled pharmacovigilance (PV) platform, expanding its contract research organization (CRO) capabilities in patient safety and drug safety operations. The acquisition integrates technology-driven automation into Parexel’s existing patient safety services, strengthening its end-to-end CRO offering.

The Vitrana platform provides system-agnostic pharmacovigilance capabilities that integrate with existing safety databases, enabling automation of case processing, improved accuracy, and reduced cycle times. According to Parexel, the technology is designed to enhance compliance and streamline workflows across clinical development and post-market safety operations.

From a CRO perspective, the acquisition enables Parexel to offer a unified model that combines patient safety technology with operational services under a single provider. The company indicated that this integrated approach responds to increasing sponsor demand for simplified vendor management, improved efficiency, and scalable safety solutions in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

The combined platform is expected to deliver benefits across the clinical trial lifecycle, including faster issue resolution, improved data integration, and more efficient adverse event reporting. Parexel also noted that the model reduces burden on investigative sites through improved data flow and streamlined safety processes.

“We can now offer customers a single partner for both PV technology and services…enhance compliance, streamline workflows, and enable experts to focus on what matters most: product and patient safety.”

Sanjay Vyas, President of Patient Safety Services & Clinical Logistics at Parexel
