Quartesian Co-Founders Reunite to Launch Acrosian as a Purpose-Built AI-Native Biometrics CRO

COMPANY PROFILE
  • Acrosian, a new CRO purpose-built for the AI era, has launched under the leadership of three co-founders of Quartesian — Benjamin Jackson (Chairman), Soumitra Chowdhury (CEO), and Vladimir Mats (Chief Commercial Officer) — targeting biopharma and medical device companies with AI-augmented data management, biostatistics, statistical programming, and medical writing services.
  • Acrosian distinguishes its model through AI-augmented workflows validated within a GxP framework with explicit human accountability, transparency about AI limitations, and a focus on biometrics and data sciences rather than full-service site operations — designed to serve both emerging biotechs and global pharmaceutical companies.

Acrosian, a new contract research organization designed to be purpose-built for the AI era, launched on July 28, 2026, reuniting three co-founders of Quartesian — the biometrics CRO they built from its founding in 2003 into a multi-continent, multi-hundred-client organization before its acquisition into Veranex in 2021. Benjamin Jackson returns as Chairman, Soumitra Chowdhury as Chief Executive Officer, and Vladimir Mats as Chief Commercial Officer, with Yurii Kartashov, PhD, joining as Chief Research and Development Officer to lead the AI strategy and technology architecture underpinning the new CRO’s service delivery model.

Acrosian is structured as a biometrics and data sciences CRO rather than a full-service trial site operator. Its services span data management, biostatistics, statistical programming, and medical writing — the core analytical and documentation functions that underpin regulatory submission packages for biopharma and medical device sponsors. The defining design principle of the Acrosian model is the integration of AI-augmented workflows validated within a GxP-compliant framework with explicit human accountability, auditability, and security architecture — an approach intended to distinguish the company from CROs that deploy AI as a marketing layer rather than as a structurally embedded, compliance-ready capability.

The launch reflects a deliberate thesis about where the biometrics CRO market is heading. Established biometrics CRO providers have historically faced pressure on pricing and margin as data management, statistical programming, and medical writing have become more commoditized. AI-augmented workflows that reduce cycle time, improve consistency, and generate regulatory-grade output at scale represent the next structural efficiency lever in this space — but only if the AI implementation is validated, transparent, and accountable in ways that satisfy GxP and regulatory expectations. Acrosian is positioning itself as the CRO that closes this gap, offering sponsors AI-driven efficiency without sacrificing the compliance rigor and human scientific oversight that regulatory submissions require.

Quartesian was acquired as part of the formation of Veranex in 2021, when Summit Partners combined it with medical device development company Ximedica and healthcare consultancy Boston Healthcare Associates to create a comprehensive concept-to-commercialization services platform for the medical technology industry. The three Acrosian founders bring the accumulated experience of building and scaling Quartesian — including its global delivery model, its biometrics methodology, and its client base relationships — into a new venture designed from the ground up for a clinical research environment in which AI is a core operational input rather than an add-on.

“The industry doesn’t need more AI claims. It needs confidence in how AI is implemented.”

Yurii Kartashov, PhD, Chief Research and Development Officer, Acrosian
