Körber Partners with AWS to Offer Cloud-Based MES Solutions for Pharma

  • Körber is offering its PAS-X MES software as a fully managed cloud-based service hosted on AWS.
  • The partnership aims to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce IT burdens, and accelerate time-to-market for life sciences companies.

Körber has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide fully managed, cloud-based manufacturing execution system (MES) solutions for the life sciences sector. The move aligns with industry trends, as pharmaceutical manufacturers increasingly seek flexible, scalable, and cost-effective digital solutions to improve supply chain resilience and speed up product launches.

The PAS-X MES software will now be available as an as-a-service solution hosted in the AWS Cloud. According to Lars Hornung, Sr. Principal Alliances & Technology Partners Software at Körber Business Area Pharma, this collaboration simplifies IT operations for pharma and biotech companies. He stated, “Together, we empower pharma and biotech organizations developing NextGen therapies to bring them to market faster, more cost-effectively, and more reliably – all without the need for additional infrastructure or IT expertise.”

The transition to AWS provides several benefits, including enhanced security, high availability, and compliance with global regulatory standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2. Additionally, AWS offers automation tools, data analytics, and infrastructure support to enhance PAS-X MES functionality. Körber and AWS are also working with industry partners to establish a qualification strategy that ensures regulatory compliance for cloud-based operations.

By adopting Werum PAS-X MES as a Service, life sciences companies can reduce IT responsibility by 75% and decrease upfront investment costs by up to 65%. This allows manufacturers to focus on core operations while Körber manages the software and infrastructure. The company’s portfolio also includes pharma-specific transport, inspection, and packaging solutions, further strengthening its position in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

AWS continues to support automation across industries, providing robust cloud infrastructure and services tailored to the life sciences sector. The collaboration with Körber highlights the growing shift towards cloud-based manufacturing solutions designed to improve efficiency, security, and compliance in pharmaceutical production.
