Asymchem, a global CDMO, has announced the expansion of its flow chemistry capabilities at its Sandwich, UK facility. The development marks the first use of the company’s proprietary, regulatory-compliant flow equipment in the Western market.
The newly commissioned suite features several lab-scale platforms, including plug flow reactors for low and high-temperature applications, a heterogeneous hydrogenation platform, a biocatalysis platform for immobilised enzyme applications, a Grignard synthesis and reaction platform, and a modular control system. These systems aim to support continuous manufacturing processes across early development and commercial scales.
The Sandwich site is now positioned as an innovation hub, where projects are advanced and refined under controlled conditions before being transferred for client implementation. According to the company, the investment also establishes the foundation for future pilot and commercial manufacturing expansions.
Asymchem highlighted the benefits of continuous manufacturing enabled by its flow platforms, including improved process safety, greater efficiency, and reduced environmental footprint. The company noted that its flow equipment has achieved CE certification on first submission, aligning with Europe’s regulatory requirements.
The company differentiates itself by offering integrated solutions across the development lifecycle, from route scouting and process development to scale-up and tailored equipment design. This approach enables Asymchem to provide solutions and equipment tailored to the individual requirements and production scales of each client.
