Northway Biotech has joined a Lithuanian science and business consortium collaborating with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry in the life sciences sector. The company becomes the consortium’s fifth business partner, contributing industrial experience in the development and manufacturing of biological medicines.

The consortium seeks to establish structured, long-term collaboration between Lithuanian universities, research institutes, industry, and MIT. According to the announcement, the partnership represents a new phase of international cooperation by systematically combining industrial biomanufacturing expertise with academic research capabilities.

Northway Biotech enters the consortium with the ambition to explore the establishment of a joint biotechnology research center in Lithuania in collaboration with MIT and Lithuanian universities. The initiative builds on more than 20 years of Northway Biotech’s experience working with US-based companies and its presence in the Boston life sciences ecosystem since 2020.

The collaboration aligns with Lithuania’s broader strategy to develop its life sciences sector through academic–industry integration. The consortium includes seven Lithuanian universities, two research institutes, and five business partners, and aims to create an innovation-driven ecosystem connecting science, studies, and contract manufacturing to support long-term regional impact.
