Kincellis Advanced Therapies (Kincellis) has been formed following the completion of the merger between Kincell Bio and Cellipont Bioservices. The U.S.-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) will focus on cell therapies and other advanced modalities, supporting programs from early development through commercial supply.
The combined organization brings together Kincell’s expertise in immune-cell technologies with Cellipont’s experience in stem cells, iPSCs, MSCs, dendritic cells, exosomes and emerging mRNA-enabled approaches. Kincellis said its capabilities will support both autologous and allogeneic therapies across a range of cell types and modalities.
Kincellis operates approximately 140,000 square feet of development and manufacturing infrastructure across Gainesville, Florida; Research Triangle Park, North Carolina; and The Woodlands, Texas. Its network includes 16 operational, qualified GMP manufacturing suites supporting early development, clinical manufacturing, pivotal programs and commercial supply. The combined companies have released more than 150 GMP batches for clients and are supporting 10 IND filings this year.
Darren Head serves as CEO, while Larry Pitcher is President. The company will have more than 200 dedicated team members across the three-site network. “Kincell and Cellipont are highly complementary in their science, facilities and the stages of development they serve,” said Darren Head, CEO of Kincellis Advanced Therapies.
The transaction was financed through equity funding led by NewSpring Capital, with support from Kineticos Life Sciences, HealthQuest Capital and Great Point Partners, alongside a debt facility from J.P. Morgan. William Blair & Company served as financial advisor to Cellipont Bioservices. Financial terms were not disclosed.
