Astellas Ireland Co. Ltd is expanding its biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Kerry Technology Park in Tralee, Ireland. The project includes the installation of a second aseptic filling line and associated manufacturing infrastructure. The expansion represents the next phase of development at the site, following its groundbreaking in March 2024.
The project will double drug product manufacturing capacity at the Tralee facility and create additional highly skilled roles across engineering, production, quality, logistics and support functions by 2029. The facility will manufacture medicines for global markets and is designed to support additional products from Astellas’ development pipeline as they progress toward commercialization.
The expansion follows Astellas’ previously announced €330 million investment in a new biopharmaceutical facility in Kerry. The new facility, which is the company’s second Kerry facility, is scheduled to officially open in early 2027. The current project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

The expansion will add manufacturing capability to Astellas’ global network and is intended to support the company’s supply of medicines to patients worldwide. The company said it values the continued support of IDA Ireland and local partners as the Tralee facility develops.
