ACG Introduces RecycloPod PP Ultra With Moisture and Oxygen Barriers

COMPANY PROFILE
ACG
  • ACG has launched RecycloPod PP Ultra, a polypropylene-based blister packaging system designed to provide high moisture and oxygen barrier protection while supporting design for recyclability.
  • The system uses a PP/EVOH/PP forming structure with water vapor transmission below 0.60 g/m² per day and oxygen transmission below 0.20 cm³/m² per day.

ACG has launched RecycloPod PP Ultra, a polypropylene-based blister packaging system designed to combine moisture and oxygen barrier protection with design for recyclability. The product is intended for pharmaceutical formulations requiring protection from both moisture and oxygen.

RecycloPod PP Ultra uses a PP/EVOH/PP forming structure, with a water vapor transmission rate of less than 0.60 g/m² per day and an oxygen transmission rate of less than 0.20 cm³/m² per day. When combined with a PP lidding film, the system creates a predominantly polypropylene blister structure designed for thermoforming and sealing on pharmaceutical packaging lines.

The launch also introduces ACG’s “Pod” family of sustainable packaging solutions. The company said the range was developed with sustainability, future packaging requirements and evolving regulatory requirements in mind. The development comes as pharmaceutical manufacturers prepare for requirements including the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and increasing attention to packaging recyclability.

RecycloPod PP Ultra was developed in collaboration with customers. ACG said the system is intended to address a gap in existing polypropylene blister packaging, where achieving oxygen protection alongside moisture barrier performance can remain a challenge.

“Pharmaceutical companies should not have to choose between protecting their product and progressing their packaging sustainability objectives. With RecycloPod PP Ultra, our objective was to provide both high moisture and oxygen barrier protection while meeting the practical requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturing and supporting design for recyclability.”
