AGC Biologics Expands CDMO Services with Yokohama Cell Therapy Site

• AGC Biologics will begin cell therapy process development and clinical manufacturing services at the AGC Inc. Yokohama Technical Center from 1 July 2025.

• The move extends the company’s CDMO services across three continents and precedes a full-scale Yokohama manufacturing facility opening in 2027.

AGC Biologics has announced that it will commence cell therapy process development and clinical manufacturing services on 1 July 2025 at the AGC Inc. Yokohama Technical Center. This development strengthens the company’s position in the contract manufacturing (CDMO) sector, extending its global cell and gene therapy capabilities to Asia.

The Yokohama site will provide services for pre-clinical and clinical trials, supporting the production of autologous and allogeneic cell therapy products. Core technology areas will include induced pluripotent stem cells, mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells, as well as CAR-T therapies. This expansion follows the company’s existing capabilities in Milan, Italy and Longmont, Colorado, marking a presence in three major regions.

The announcement comes ahead of the scheduled 2027 opening of a new Yokohama manufacturing facility, which will provide end-to-end services for mammalian-based biologics, cell therapies, and mRNA products.

The Milan Cell and Gene Technology Center of Excellence, which has supported multiple product approvals and produced hundreds of batches, will play a key role in supporting the Yokohama site’s operational scale-up.
