- AGC Biologics, a global contract manufacturing organisation (CDMO), plans to lay off just under 4% of its workforce.
- The layoffs will affect the company’s sites in Seattle and Colorado, as well as other global functional areas.

AGC Biologics, a Seattle-based biopharma contract manufacturer, has announced plans to lay off just under 4% of its global workforce.
The company, which employs more than 2,500 workers worldwide, confirmed in a statement that it has had to reduce positions at its Seattle and Colorado sites and global functional areas.
AGC’s Seattle campus, which serves as the company’s global headquarters and a key site for its global formulation services, has been producing biologics for three decades. The site features multiple manufacturing lines and a range of scales for mammalian and microbial-based drugs.
Meanwhile, the company’s Boulder site in Colorado, which it acquired from AstraZeneca in 2020, helps produce mammalian-based products at larger scales needed for late-phase and commercial projects. In 2021, AGC also purchased a former Novartis cell and gene therapy production plant 16 miles away from the Boulder site in Longmont, Colorado. The company also operates facilities in Denmark, Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Official AGC Bio Statement
AGC Biologics continues to navigate the changing economies of our industry, and other external factors that have impacted our organisation and many of our partners worldwide over the last year. To position ourselves for the future, we have reached an inflection point where we need to adjust business priorities, and right size and rebalance the resources of our organisation. With these adjusted priorities, we have had to reduce positions at our Seattle and Colorado sites and some supporting global functional areas.
While these are never easy decisions, we believe these changes will help us refocus resources and operate more effectively as the company navigates a changing biopharma industry. AGC Biologics has plans in place to ensure that our partners continue to receive the highest levels of service and support for their projects.
