- AsymBio has begun construction of a new eight-story R&D building at its Fengxian site in Shanghai to expand its biologics CDMO capabilities, with completion planned for the second half of 2027.

AsymBio, a biologics-focused CDMO and subsidiary of Asymchem Group, has started construction of a new research and development building at its Fengxian site in Shanghai. Construction began in May 2026, with the eight-story facility scheduled for completion and commissioning in the second half of 2027. The project is intended to expand the company’s biologics development capabilities and strengthen the Fengxian site as a development and contract manufacturing hub.
The building will occupy approximately 2,500 square meters of land and provide nearly 20,000 square meters of gross floor area. It will be built in accordance with green and low-carbon construction standards and will support cell line development, upstream and downstream process development, conjugation process development, drug product development, and analytical development services.
Located next to AsymBio’s clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities for antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), the R&D building will operate alongside existing production lines to support scale-up and commercial manufacturing. According to the company, this integration is intended to streamline development and manufacturing activities while shortening overall project timelines.
The facility will also serve as the home of AsymBio’s Accelerated PCC (AccPCC) platform, an AI-enabled research and development platform designed to shorten the timeline from lead identification to preclinical candidate selection.

According to the company, the AccPCC platform integrates early research and development, CMC, nonclinical evaluation, and early clinical translation to support global biotechnology partners. AsymBio said the new building will strengthen coordination between early development, scale-up, and manufacturing as part of its biologics CDMO operations.
