Aurobindo Pharma has inaugurated TheraNym Biologics, a dedicated biologics contract manufacturing organization (CMO) in Borpatla village, Hatnoora mandal, Sangareddy district, Telangana. The facility represents an investment of ₹1,200 crore and marks the company’s entry into biologics contract manufacturing as it expands its presence in the biologics and biosimilars sector.
The TheraNym facility, located near Hyderabad, is equipped with 15 KL bioreactors, downstream processing suites, aseptic fill-finish capabilities, and quality control laboratories. According to the company, the site is expected to create more than 1,500 jobs and is designed to support large-scale biologics production for domestic and international markets.
The facility was inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Science and Technology Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha. During the event, state officials highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening Hyderabad’s position in advanced medical research and manufacturing, including biologics, vaccines, cell and gene therapies, and treatments for cancer and rare diseases.
According to Aurobindo Pharma, TheraNym has been designed to meet international regulatory expectations and will manufacture advanced therapeutics for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The company stated that exports are planned for multiple markets, including the United States, subject to regulatory approvals and customer requirements. Aurobindo Vice Chairman and Managing Director Nithyananda Reddy said the facility builds on the company’s biosimilars business through CuraTeQ and supports its strategy to expand in biologics contract manufacturing.
