AustinPx Partners with Thermo Fisher to Expand KinetiSol Technology for Commercial Manufacturing

COMPANY PROFILE
  • AustinPx has signed an agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Patheon pharma services to install KinetiSol™ Technology equipment at two U.S. oral solid drug manufacturing sites.
  • The agreement extends KinetiSol capabilities from development and scale-up through commercial manufacturing, providing an integrated pathway for orally delivered small molecule drug products.

AustinPx has entered into an agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Patheon pharma services to install its KinetiSol™ Technology equipment at Thermo Fisher’s oral solid drug manufacturing facilities in Bend, Oregon, and Cincinnati, Ohio. The collaboration expands KinetiSol capabilities from development and scale-up through commercial manufacturing, supporting an integrated CDMO and contract manufacturing pathway for orally delivered small molecule drugs.

Under the agreement, Thermo Fisher will become the exclusive third-party CDMO provider offering the KinetiSol Formulator technology. AustinPx said the solvent-free, fusion-based amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) technology is designed to improve the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs while supporting scalability and increasing environmental and economic sustainability. The technology can also be applied to active pharmaceutical ingredients with high melting points, poor organic solvent solubility, and heat sensitivity.

According to AustinPx, more than 70 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies have used KinetiSol since the company’s launch in 2022, including seven of the world’s ten largest pharmaceutical companies. The agreement provides sponsors developing KinetiSol-enabled products with an additional route to late-stage development and commercial manufacturing while expanding the technology’s commercial ecosystem.

AustinPx said the collaboration enables customers to evaluate KinetiSol earlier in development while maintaining a pathway to commercial production through Thermo Fisher’s manufacturing network. The KinetiSol equipment will be installed at the company’s Bend, Oregon, and Cincinnati, Ohio, facilities.

“This agreement marks an important milestone for AustinPx, our clients, and the growing number of molecules enabled by KinetiSol Technology.”
