Axplora has announced that four of its European CDMO manufacturing sites have received EcoVadis sustainability ratings. The Leverkusen site in Germany achieved a Platinum rating, while Le Mans in France received Gold, and the Pompey and Chasse-sur-Rhône sites received Silver in their first individual EcoVadis assessments. According to the company, the ratings reflect progress in responsible manufacturing and support customers seeking transparent and reliable contract manufacturing partners.

EcoVadis evaluates organizations across four areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Axplora said the Leverkusen site achieved scores of 90 out of 100 for Environment and 88 out of 100 for Sustainable Procurement, placing it among the top 1% of organizations assessed by EcoVadis. The company stated that the assessments provide independent validation of its sustainability and governance practices.

“Our customers are developing some of the world’s most innovative medicines and need partners they can rely on to help them navigate increasingly complex manufacturing challenges. These EcoVadis results demonstrate the progress we are making across our CDMO network to deliver the responsible, transparent and reliable manufacturing our customers expect.”

Martin Meeson, Chief Executive Officer of Axplora

Axplora said the recognitions follow a year of collaboration between its manufacturing sites and Procurement and ESG teams to strengthen governance, enhance responsible sourcing, and integrate sustainability into daily operations. At the Leverkusen site, process optimization on a large-scale manufacturing project reduced tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent consumption by up to 70%, avoiding approximately 45 tonnes of solvent and waste annually.

The company said more than 2,000 employees across its network support customers through process development, quality, and manufacturing operations. According to Axplora, the EcoVadis ratings reflect its broader efforts to combine scientific expertise, responsible manufacturing, and collaboration to support customers developing complex small molecules and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).
