BioDuro-Sundia, a Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organization (CRDMO), has appointed Dr. Armin Spura as its new Chief Executive Officer. Spura steps into the role with over 20 years of experience in life sciences and biotechnology.
The appointment was announced as part of BioDuro-Sundia’s efforts to drive growth across global markets. Before joining the company, Spura served as CEO of Crown Bioscience for nearly five years, where he oversaw significant growth and strategic developments. His career also includes leadership positions at major industry players such as Thermo Fisher Scientific, WuXi NEXTCODE, CareDx, and Ion Torrent.
“I am honoured to join BioDuro-Sundia and lead this talented team as we embark on the next phase of growth,” said Spura. He expressed confidence in the company’s integrated CRDMO platform, which supports services from drug discovery through to commercial manufacturing.
Dr. Spura’s early career includes experience with start-ups like Ingenuity Systems and ForteBio, further highlighting his expertise in building successful biotech ventures. BioDuro-Sundia’s decision to appoint him underscores its commitment to expanding its contract manufacturing capabilities while continuing to support drug development. Spura holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from Brown University and studied biochemistry in Germany.
