Centrix Pharma Solutions Partners With University of Sussex on Predictive Modeling

COMPANY PROFILE
  • Centrix Pharma Solutions has partnered with the University of Sussex on a £375,000 Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) focused on data analytics and predictive modeling for pharmaceutical product development.
  • The project, supported by Innovate UK with £250,000 in grant funding, will develop data-driven tools to improve decision-making during early-stage product development.

Centrix Pharma Solutions has partnered with the University of Sussex on a new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop data analytics and predictive modeling approaches for pharmaceutical product development. The £375,000 project, supported by Innovate UK with £250,000 in grant funding, will combine Centrix’s pharmaceutical development expertise with the university’s data science research.

The project will initially focus on early-stage product development, where pharmaceutical companies generate formulation, analytical and process data across development programs. Centrix and the University of Sussex will develop tools and methodologies to analyze these datasets and identify trends, predict outcomes and inform development strategies.

The companies said the project aims to identify development risks earlier, reduce unnecessary experimentation, improve decision-making and accelerate the progression of promising medicines toward clinical evaluation. The partnership will also establish in-house data science expertise at Centrix through the recruitment of a dedicated KTP Associate.

The KTP Associate will work across Centrix and the University of Sussex to implement new analytical approaches and connect academic research with industrial application. Centrix said the project is intended to create a longer-term capability that will strengthen its research and development activities and service offering for customers.

“The Knowledge Transfer Partnership gives us access to specialist academic expertise while embedding those capabilities within our business. This project represents an exciting opportunity to apply advanced data science techniques to a real-world pharmaceutical development challenge.”
