Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. has announced two collaborations within its contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) to advance novel oncology research. The partnerships include an alliance with the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI) and support for a Phase I Clinical Trial at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
The agreement with PICI provides network members access to Charles River’s portfolio of preclinical drug discovery and development services, ranging from early discovery to manufacturing. The company highlighted its role as a cell and gene therapy CDMO, combining research and development with biologics testing and manufacturing to accelerate oncology programmes.
“PICI’s mission-focused strategic alliance closely aligns with Charles River’s goal of creating healthier lives,” said Kerstin Dolph, Corporate Senior Vice President, Global Manufacturing, Charles River.
Alongside this, Charles River will apply its CDMO capabilities and dedicated Centres of Excellence to generate materials for CHLA’s Phase I Clinical Trial. CHLA, which received a $6 million award in 2024 from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, is investigating stem cell approaches for recurrent solid tumours in children and adolescents.
