  • The acquisition expands CordenPharma’s peptide development, clinical supply, and commercial manufacturing capabilities while increasing its global manufacturing footprint to approximately 3,500 employees.

CordenPharma has completed the acquisition of U.S.-headquartered peptide contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) AmbioPharm, expanding its global peptide manufacturing network with facilities in North Augusta, South Carolina, and Shanghai, China. The newly acquired sites will be integrated into CordenPharma’s manufacturing network over the coming months to support peptide programs spanning development, clinical supply, and commercial manufacturing.

The South Carolina facility, which will operate as CordenPharma South Carolina, expands the company’s downstream capabilities, including purification and lyophilization, with additional upstream capacity investments planned. The Shanghai site, to become CordenPharma Shanghai, adds upstream peptide manufacturing capacity. According to the company, the acquisition also provides a second U.S. peptide manufacturing site and establishes a new manufacturing presence in Asia, complementing its existing operations in Colorado and Frankfurt, Germany.

The combined manufacturing network is intended to provide customers with expanded capacity for peptide active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), greater manufacturing flexibility, increased supply chain resilience, and support for development through commercial manufacturing. The integrated offering also includes drug substance and drug product capabilities, including sterile injectable and oral solid dosage forms, with expertise in oral peptide delivery.

Following completion of the transaction, the AmbioPharm facilities will operate under the CordenPharma brand. The company said the integration will create a global workforce of approximately 3,500 employees and further support its peptide manufacturing capabilities across North America, Europe, and Asia.
