Delpharm Expands CDMO Network with Astellas’ Meppel Site Purchase

• Delpharm has acquired Astellas’ Meppel pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Netherlands.

• The Meppel site, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, produces over 40 million finished products annually.

• The acquisition strengthens Delpharm’s position in the Netherlands, adding to its existing manufacturing site in Bladel and an injectable drug development centre in Leiden.

Delpharm, a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO), has announced the expansion of its pharmaceutical network with the acquisition of Astellas’ Meppel pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Netherlands.

The Meppel facility is a fully equipped site spanning 31,600 square meters. It employs 410 qualified personnel who contribute to the production of solid dosage forms, such as tablets, capsules, and pellets. The site boasts an impressive annual output, producing more than 40 million finished products packaged each year.

In addition to its production capabilities, the Meppel site holds quality authorizations for exporting medicines globally. This includes the FDA certification for the U.S., and ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications, further enhancing Delpharm’s ability to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical products to a global market.
