ENCell Signs MOU with Cell Resources to Expand CGT CDMO Operations in Japan

• ENCell Co., Ltd. has signed an MOU with Cell Resources Corporation (CRC) to strengthen its presence in Japan’s cell and gene therapy (CGT) market.

• The collaboration includes potential CDMO technology transfer, consulting support, and licensing discussions for ENCell’s EN001 pipeline.

ENCell Co., Ltd., a South Korean biotech specialising in biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) and novel drug development, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cell Resources Corporation (CRC). The agreement aims to support ENCell’s expansion into the cell and gene therapy (CGT) sector in Japan.

CRC signed the MOU based on ENCell’s good manufacturing practice (GMP) expertise and production technology, which it believes will enhance its CGT CDMO operations in Japan. ENCell, in turn, sees CRC’s strong local network as an advantage for the potential licensing of EN001, its pipeline drug currently in development.

Under the agreement, ENCell will provide consulting support for CGT CDMO operations, while both companies explore a contractual agreement for technology transfer. Additionally, they plan to leverage their respective client networks to foster further collaborations in the Japanese market.
