Experic Partners with Flurry Powders to Advance Spray-Dried Drug Development

COMPANY PROFILE
  • Experic has entered a strategic collaboration with Flurry Powders to support spray-dried formulations for inhaled and nasal drug products.
  • The partnership combines formulation, particle engineering, and GMP manufacturing to support contract manufacturing and clinical development.

Experic has announced a strategic collaboration with Flurry Powders LLC to support the development of spray-dried formulations for inhaled and nasal drug products. The agreement brings together capabilities in spray drying, formulation development, and particle engineering to support next-generation therapies.

Under the collaboration, Flurry Powders will provide specialized expertise in spray drying, analytical capabilities, and formulation development to Experic’s clients. Experic, a CDMO focused on pharmaceutical powder handling and clinical manufacturing, operates a GMP spray dryer configured to Flurry’s proprietary PSD-1 specifications. According to the companies, this configuration has demonstrated a 15–20% increase in lung dose compared to conventional PSD-1 scale dryers.

The partnership is designed to enable process transfer from research and development to GMP manufacturing while maintaining performance and avoiding delays. It also supports the development of complex molecules, including lipophilic, waxy, and poorly aqueous-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients, as well as biologics that can be stabilized as dry powders.

The companies stated that the collaboration enables an integrated approach linking formulation and particle engineering, spray drying, aerosol performance characterization, device selection, and GMP or GMP-aligned manufacturing and scale-up. This approach is intended to support clinical readiness and reduce risks associated with scale-up and regulatory submission in contract manufacturing programs.

“Partnering with Flurry Powders expands the solutions we offer developers advancing inhaled and nasal therapies.”
