FAMAR Group has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with GE HealthCare to provide fill-and-finish services for iodine-based contrast media at its Homburg, Germany facility, with commercial supply expected to begin in 2028.
Under the agreement, the Homburg site will manufacture vials used in computed tomography, X-ray, and interventional imaging procedures. According to the companies, the facility is expected to contribute up to 25 million patient doses annually to GE HealthCare’s supply network by 2031, supporting European demand for imaging contrast media products.
FAMAR acquired the Homburg site from MiP Pharma in September 2025 and plans to develop it into a multi-customer CDMO and contract manufacturing platform focused on sterile supply. The company stated that the facility will expand its aseptic and lyophilized fill-and-finish capabilities and serve as a center of excellence for sterile manufacturing operations.

GE HealthCare stated that the agreement will help expand production capacity and strengthen supply chain resilience for its European pharmaceutical diagnostics business. The company currently delivers more than 100 million patient doses of contrast media globally each year using active pharmaceutical ingredients supplied from its facility in Norway.
