Gannet BioChem Partners With Re-Vana on cGMP Polymer Manufacturing

COMPANY PROFILE
  • Gannet BioChem and Re-Vana Therapeutics have signed a development and cGMP supply agreement to develop and scale manufacturing processes for Re-Vana’s proprietary biodegradable polymers.
  • The polymers will support Re-Vana’s EyeLief® and OcuLief® sustained-release drug delivery platforms, as well as its expanding non-ocular programs.

Gannet BioChem, a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in activated polymers and bioconjugation, has entered into a development and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) supply agreement with Re-Vana Therapeutics. The collaboration will support the development and scale-up of manufacturing processes for Re-Vana’s proprietary biodegradable polymers and establish a cGMP supply as the biotechnology company advances its drug delivery technologies toward clinical development.

The agreement will support Re-Vana’s EyeLief® technology, a preformed, photo-crosslinked, biodegradable implant designed to provide sustained delivery of therapeutics for serious retinal diseases. The platform aims to extend drug delivery and reduce the frequency of injections into the eye while helping patients preserve their vision.

The cGMP-manufactured polymers will also support Re-Vana’s OcuLief® platform, which forms a sustained-release implant through photo-crosslinking following injection, and the company’s expanding non-ocular programs. Establishing a manufacturing foundation across these programs is intended to support material quality, reproducibility, and scale-up as Re-Vana advances its pipeline and strategic collaborations.

The collaboration combines Re-Vana’s macromer chemistry and sustained-release platform expertise with Gannet BioChem’s capabilities in polyethylene glycol (PEG) chemistry, process development, analytical characterization, and cGMP manufacturing.

“Establishing a scalable cGMP supply of our proprietary polymers is a key part of that progression. The materials would support EyeLief®, OcuLief®, and the company’s non-ocular programs.”
