- Hosokawa Micron Limited has expanded its Daresbury contract development and manufacturing operations, increasing cGMP processing capacity from one suite to three.
- The expansion enables multiple projects to be processed simultaneously and supports pharmaceutical, medical device, and formulation development programs from early-stage studies through commercial production.
Hosokawa Micron Limited has expanded its contract development and manufacturing operations at its Daresbury site, increasing cGMP-grade processing capacity from one suite to three. The expansion moves the operation into a larger area within the same building and allows the company to run multiple processing projects in parallel for the first time.
The Daresbury facility provides outsourced powder processing, material micronisation, classification, and particle design services for active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and medical device materials. The site also supports formulation development, powder testing, animal toxicity studies, stability studies, clinical trials, and commercial production. The operation functions as a CDMO within the wider Hosokawa Micron Group and operates to cGMP manufacturing standards.
According to the company, the expansion was driven by continued demand from cGMP customers. Previously, projects were processed sequentially within a single processing area. The addition of two new suites now enables simultaneous processing across separate workstreams. Each suite has been built to bespoke specifications and includes dedicated nitrogen and compressed air supplies designed to support controlled cGMP environments.
“Moving from one suite to three means we can take on parallel projects without compromising on the standards our customers rely on, and it gives us the flexibility to support clients across the full development cycle, from early-stage trials through to repeat commercial production.”
Kathryn Hipkins, Technical Operations Director at Hosokawa Micron Limited
The company’s broader contract manufacturing capabilities include micronisation, blending, granulation, encapsulation support, coating, high-potency API handling, and pilot-to-commercial-scale production. To mark the expansion, Hosokawa Micron Limited will open the Daresbury site to visitors on July 7, 2026, offering tours of the new facilities and demonstrations of contract processing equipment.
