- The Center will provide end-to-end customer support, conduct carbon footprint assessments, and drive innovation to lower the environmental impact of Lonza CHI’s product portfolio.
Lonza Capsules & Health Ingredients has announced the establishment of a Center of Applied Sustainability, aiming to integrate sustainability into product development and reduce its environmental footprint. The initiative aligns with Lonza’s near-term science-based emissions reduction targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The newly formed Center consists of a dedicated team of experts focused on implementing energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource optimization initiatives. It will also assist customers in reducing their emissions across the supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to developing low-impact products.
As a key service, the Center will conduct carbon footprint assessments for Lonza CHI’s product portfolio, helping customers identify opportunities to further minimise emissions. In addition to these assessments, the Center will drive innovation to ensure the lowest possible environmental impact in product development.
Christine Lebeault, Head of Applied Sustainability at Lonza Capsules & Health Ingredients, stated: “As environmental concerns in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries continue to grow, developers and manufacturers face increased pressure to reduce environmental impact, particularly in final dosage forms. We believe that sustainability and innovation go hand in hand, strengthening competitive advantage and contributing to a more sustainable future.”
By integrating sustainability into the early stages of product development, Lonza CHI aims to co-innovate with customers, enabling them to adopt responsible sourcing and manufacturing practices that align with environmental goals.
