Lonza Expands Capsule Manufacturing with New Lines in India and China

• Lonza is expanding its hard gelatin capsule (HGC) manufacturing with new lines at facilities in Rewari, India, and Suzhou, China.

• The expansion will enhance production capacity and support regional demand in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sectors.

Lonza, a global manufacturing partner for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and nutraceutical industries, has announced capacity expansions at its Rewari (India) and Suzhou (China) facilities. The additions include new manufacturing lines for hard gelatin capsules (HGCs), designed to support the production of high-quality capsules for diverse applications.

Operational since late 2024, with further lines expected by Q3 2025, these expansions are part of Lonza’s CHI network strategy to strengthen regional capabilities and sustainability. HGCs are highly versatile, accommodating liquid or solid fills and addressing pharmaceutical and nutraceutical needs.

The state-of-the-art, automated production lines adhere to strict quality standards and offer flexibility in capsule sizes and colours. “By enhancing our manufacturing capabilities, we aim to provide even greater flexibility and reliability in meeting the needs of our partners,” said Aanchal Tomar, APAC Regional Business Unit Head, Lonza Capsules & Health Ingredients.
