Lonza has launched its Rapid Media Prototyping Service (RaMP), a new offering designed to provide biopharmaceutical companies with faster access to custom liquid and powder media for screening, process confirmation and early development. The service offers non-GMP powder batches ranging from 1–10 kg and liquid batches from 1–100 L, with production possible within 10 working days.

RaMP is intended to address early development challenges such as long lead times for custom prototype media and limited options for small-batch manufacturing. The service also aims to help development teams align early formulation work with future manufacturing requirements and generate process data ahead of GMP manufacturing.

The service forms part of Lonza’s end-to-end custom media and buffer solutions offering, which supports customers from media development and screening through non-GMP prototyping and commercial GMP manufacturing. Lonza said connecting early formulation work with long-term scalability can simplify development and support manufacturing readiness.

“RaMP gives customers the possibility of rapid access to custom media in the quantities they need, when they need it. The service is designed to connect early screening and process confirmation with future GMP requirements and support technology transfer and commercialization.”

Omar Wahab, Vice President and Head of Bioprocessing at Lonza

Delivered through Lonza’s global media development and manufacturing network, RaMP combines flexible batch sizes and rapid turnaround with specialized expertise. The company said the service is intended to help customers advance development while preparing for scale-up and GMP manufacturing.
