  • Lonza has selected Hyderabad, India, as the location for its upcoming Global Capability Centre (GCC), supporting its global biopharmaceutical operations.
  • The Switzerland-based CDMO reported CHF 6.5 billion in sales and CHF 2.1 billion in Core EBITDA in 2025.

Lonza has selected Hyderabad, India, as the site for a new Global Capability Centre (GCC), a move intended to support the company’s global biopharmaceutical operations and strengthen the city’s role in the life sciences sector.

The Switzerland-headquartered company operates as a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) providing services across research, development, and contract manufacturing. Founded in 1897, Lonza operates more than 30 facilities worldwide and employs nearly 20,000 professionals.

The company said the decision followed an evaluation process in which Hyderabad stood out for its talent pool, infrastructure, and policy environment. A Lonza delegation met Telangana Industries and Commerce Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Telangana Life Sciences CEO Shakthi M. Nagappan to communicate plans for the centre.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lonza’s decision to establish its new centre in Hyderabad. The city continues to stand out as the bright spot for global life sciences investments, driven by its strong scientific ecosystem, digital depth, and world-class manufacturing capabilities. Lonza’s investment further strengthens Telangana’s position as a preferred destination for innovation-led growth in the global biopharmaceutical industry.”

By establishing the GCC in Hyderabad, Lonza will join other global organisations that use the city’s scientific workforce and technology infrastructure to support research, development, and operational activities across the biopharmaceutical sector. In 2025, Lonza reported sales of CHF 6.5 billion and Core EBITDA of CHF 2.1 billion.
