Lyocontract has begun construction on a €50 million ($57.6 million) production expansion in Germany, marked by a groundbreaking ceremony held with its partner Syntegon. The project is intended to expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities for sterile freeze-dried products.
The new production line planned for the facility will include a filling and closing machine with an integrated isolator, along with a loading and unloading system and a freeze-dryer. Syntegon will supply the complete line and manage the project from a single source.
According to the company, the line is being designed to meet the regulatory requirements of EU GMP Annex 1 while providing flexibility for different products and container sizes. The system is also intended to support high performance while minimizing downtime during operations.
“With the groundbreaking ceremony, we are paving the way for further growth. Our goal is to establish Lyocontract as a leading contract manufacturer for sterile freeze-dried products of the highest quality.”
Dr. Tino Galgon, Managing Director of Lyocontract
The expansion will be implemented in stages as new equipment is installed. The first production line has already been planned, with delivery expected in summer 2027.
