Medichem Signs Two U.S. License and Supply Agreements With Somerset Therapeutics

COMPANY PROFILE
  • Medichem has signed two License and Supply Agreements with Somerset Therapeutics for products intended for the U.S. market.
  • The collaboration covers an IV-ready-to-use injectable product manufactured in Spain and an oral solid dosage product developed using spray drying technology in Malta.

Medichem has entered into two new License and Supply Agreements with Somerset Therapeutics LLC, a U.S.-based pharmaceutical company, covering products intended for commercialization in the United States. The agreements include an injectable product formulated as an IV-ready-to-use treatment and an oral solid dosage product developed using Medichem’s spray drying technology.

Under the agreements, the injectable product will be manufactured at Medichem’s fill-and-finish facility in Asturias, Spain, while the oral solid dosage product will be developed and manufactured at the company’s oral solid dosage manufacturing plant in Malta. According to the companies, both products are intended to address unmet needs within their respective therapeutic areas.

Medichem will be responsible for product development and manufacturing, drawing on its capabilities in research and development, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, and commercial readiness. Somerset Therapeutics will oversee Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) filing, Paragraph IV litigation management, and commercialization activities in the United States.

“These new agreements represent another important step in our collaboration with Somerset and highlights the strength of our partnership. They reflect our ability to combine advanced technologies, such as spray drying and ready-to-use injectable formats, with strong cross-functional execution to support successful product development and commercialization.”

Olga Urazova, Chief Commercial Officer of Medichem

The companies said the agreements further expand their existing relationship and support their shared objective of bringing differentiated pharmaceutical products to the U.S. market. The collaboration also reinforces Medichem’s role in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing through its integrated capabilities and contract manufacturing expertise.
