Medichem announced that its Injectables Manufacturing Plant in Asturias has achieved LEED Silver certification, a sustainability certification for buildings. The certification recognizes the facility’s performance across environmental and operational criteria, including water efficiency, materials and resources, innovation, indoor environmental quality, and energy-related measures.
According to the company, the certification reflects its efforts to develop facilities designed to reduce environmental impact while supporting operational efficiency and employee wellbeing. The achievement marks a sustainability milestone for the Asturias manufacturing site.
Medichem reported that the facility received 10 out of 11 available points in Water Efficiency, 11 out of 13 points in Materials and Resources, and 6 out of 6 points in Innovation. The company also cited strong performance in indoor environmental quality and energy-related categories.
The certification was awarded following collaboration among multiple internal teams and external partners involved in the project. Medichem stated that the LEED Silver designation is one of the most widely recognized standards for sustainable buildings.
The company said the certification reflects its commitment to building manufacturing facilities that combine operational performance with environmental considerations.
