Microsize has signed an agreement to acquire MicroMacinazione (Mic Mac), a dedicated micronisation facility in Monteggio, Switzerland, from Lonza. The deal follows Microsize’s acquisition of Lonza’s Quakertown, Pennsylvania site in 2022 and forms part of a broader strategy to build a global particle engineering platform. Schedio Group will invest alongside Microsize to strengthen and localise operations in Europe.
Mic Mac brings more than 30 years of GMP-compliant jet milling and micronisation experience for clinical and commercial supply. The site adds established European infrastructure, a skilled workforce and a strong regulatory track record to Microsize’s growing platform. Microsize stated that the facility complements its U.S. operations and enhances its ability to support customers across development and commercialisation.
The companies noted that the acquisition will enable Microsize to provide specialised micronisation services in both the United States and Europe. Lonza added that existing engagements between the parties should support a smooth transition for Mic Mac’s customers following closing.
Microsize and Schedio plan to jointly invest in Mic Mac to modernise the site and enhance its capabilities. The partnership aims to build an integrated transatlantic network for advanced particle engineering by combining Microsize’s CDMO expertise with Schedio’s equipment and containment technologies.
Microsize stated that the addition of Mic Mac will help establish the company as a global platform for particle size control. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions.
