NorthStar Partners With LIFT to Advance Lu177-LT17 Radioligand Therapy

  • LIFT and NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes have entered a strategic collaboration to advance the development of Lu177-LT17, a Lutetium-177-based radioligand therapy for cancer-associated bone disease.
  • NorthStar will provide radiopharmaceutical CDMO services, including isotope radiolabeling, analytical development, cGMP manufacturing, and clinical supply support for planned Phase I studies.

NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes and the Low Institute for Therapeutics (LIFT) have announced a strategic collaboration to support the development, manufacturing, and clinical translation of Lu177-LT17, a radioligand therapy candidate designed for the treatment of cancer-associated bone disease, including hematologic malignancies and metastatic solid tumors.

Under the agreement, NorthStar will provide integrated radiopharmaceutical CDMO services, including isotope radiolabeling, analytical development, and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) manufacturing support. The companies stated that the collaboration will focus on advancing translational and regulatory activities required to support an Investigational New Drug (IND) application. NorthStar is also expected to manufacture clinical supplies for planned Phase I first-in-human studies following regulatory approval.

According to the organizations, Lu177-LT17 is designed to selectively deliver therapeutic radioisotopes to cancer-induced bone lesions while limiting exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. The program is intended to address cancer-associated bone disease in both hematologic cancers and metastatic solid tumors.

“By combining our end-to-end CDMO capabilities with LIFT’s research model, we are helping bring promising new therapies closer to patients who need them most.”

Dr. Frank Scholz, President and CEO of NorthStar

The companies said the partnership combines LIFT’s translational research efforts with NorthStar’s radiopharmaceutical development and contract manufacturing capabilities. NorthStar added that its integrated infrastructure supports radiopharmaceutical development, isotope supply, cGMP manufacturing, scale-up, and commercialization activities across emerging radiopharmaceutical programs.
