Ofichem Acquires Meribel’s Uppsala Site to Expand Early-Stage CDMO Capabilities

• Ofichem has acquired Meribel Pharma Solutions’ Uppsala site to expand its non-GMP small-molecule drug development services.

• The site will support early-phase projects and operate in coordination with Ofichem’s GMP facility in the Netherlands.

Ofichem, a European CDMO focused on high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients and integrated development services, has announced the acquisition of Meribel Pharma Solutions’ Uppsala site in Sweden. The facility enhances Ofichem’s non-GMP capabilities in early-stage, small-molecule drug substance development.

Previously part of Recipharm and known as OT Chemistry, the Uppsala site employs 20 staff and offers expertise in traditional small molecules as well as newer modalities such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), oligonucleotides, and PROTACs. Ofichem plans to integrate the site within its matrix structure, connecting it to group-level operations, quality, and R&D functions.

The acquisition expands Ofichem’s customer base by adding more than 40 biotech and mid-sized pharma clients across the Nordic region. It also creates a seamless development path from early-phase research in Sweden to GMP manufacturing at Ofichem’s Ter Apel site in the Netherlands.

Looking ahead, Ofichem plans further expansion of its early-stage CDMO network, including potential evaluations of larger-scale GMP facilities in Europe and North America.
