- PharmaBlock has commissioned its first peptide pilot-scale GMP plant at its Zhejiang manufacturing site to support peptide and peptide conjugate programs transitioning from early-stage development to pilot-scale production.
- The facility includes 600 liters of solid-phase peptide synthesis capacity, integrated purification and lyophilization capabilities, and GMP-compliant cleanroom operations.
PharmaBlock Sciences has commissioned its first peptide pilot-scale GMP plant at its Zhejiang manufacturing site, expanding its capabilities for peptide and peptide conjugate development and manufacturing. The facility is designed to support customer programs progressing from early-stage research and kilogram-scale GMP manufacturing to pilot-scale GMP production.
The new facility features a solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) platform with a total reactor volume of 600 liters, including 100-liter, 200-liter, and 300-liter configurations. According to the company, the flexible setup supports process development activities as well as production campaigns exceeding 10 kilograms. The plant also incorporates automated fluid handling systems and inert gas protection technology to support manufacturing consistency.
PharmaBlock said the facility provides end-to-end GMP capabilities, including synthesis, cleavage, purification, separation, drying, lyophilization, and packaging. The site includes dedicated Grade D and Class C cleanroom areas, integrated cleavage systems, preparative chromatography platforms, and a fully automated sterile lyophilization system designed to support peptide active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production.
“The commissioning of the first peptide pilot-scale GMP plant is a major milestone in PharmaBlock’s strategic expansion into new molecular modalities. The company has expanded beyond its building block business into oligonucleotides, peptides, and conjugates through the establishment of its OPC (Oligonucleotides, Peptides, Conjugates) Division.”
Dr. Minmin Yang, Chairman of PharmaBlock Group.
The company stated that its Next-Generation Peptide CRDMO platform combines multiple manufacturing technologies, including solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), liquid-phase peptide synthesis (LPPS), continuous-flow LPPS, and enzyme-assisted peptide synthesis (EAPS). PharmaBlock said the platform is intended to provide customized manufacturing approaches tailored to specific peptide structures while supporting green chemistry and intelligent manufacturing principles.
