Phillips Medisize, a Molex company to Acquire Vectura Group, Enhancing Drug Device Manufacturing

  • Molex, through its subsidiary Phillips Medisize, has agreed to acquire Vectura Group Limited, a UK-based inhalation drug device specialist.
  • The acquisition enhances Phillips Medisize’s capabilities in combination drug device development, especially for inhalation therapies like asthma and COPD.

Molex has signed an agreement to acquire Vectura Group Limited, a inhalation drug device developer based in Chippenham, UK. The acquisition, made through its subsidiary Phillips Medisize, will expand Molex’s ability to offer innovative solutions for pharmaceutical customers, particularly in the area of inhalation therapies such as asthma and COPD.

This acquisition brings together Phillips Medisize’s global engineering and manufacturing expertise with Vectura’s capabilities in inhalation device and formulation development. According to Paul Chaffin, President of Phillips Medisize, the collaboration is set to enhance their portfolio and support their mission to improve the lives of those suffering from chronic diseases.

With over 6,000 employees across North America, Europe, and Asia, Phillips Medisize designs and manufactures products for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. The acquisition of Vectura provides them with added expertise in dry powder inhalers (DPI), pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDI), and nasal devices, positioning the company for further growth in the market for inhalation therapies.

Joe Nelligan, CEO of Molex, highlighted that this move is part of Molex’s strategy to build an industry-leading healthcare business. He added, “We are excited by the significant growth potential that comes with a wider range of formulation, device design, combination product development, and manufacturing services.”
