Piramal Pharma Solutions, a global contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), has introduced the PODs (Plan, Own, and Deliver) Project Execution System at its drug substance facility in Aurora, Canada. The initiative aims to streamline operations and improve delivery performance amid a growing project pipeline and rising client demand.
Developed internally at the Aurora site, the PODs Project Execution System is designed to strengthen collaboration, accountability, and ownership across teams. Each POD consists of eight to ten subject matter experts from different departments who jointly manage development and commercial projects from start to finish.
The teams meet daily in what the company calls the Capsule of Creativity, a dedicated space for aligning priorities, tracking success metrics, and addressing challenges in real time. Since its introduction, the Aurora site has reportedly freed up over 1,200 hours of employee time, reduced adverse quality events, and improved adaptability through earlier identification of scope changes.
