The Ritedose Corporation has announced “1,000 Hours of Purpose,” a year-long initiative allowing employees to volunteer their time and skills to support local charities. The program, launched in collaboration with United Way of the Midlands, will see Ritedose employees contribute 1,000 hours to organizations focused on essential community needs such as housing and hunger relief.
According to United Way, 15% to 20% of households in the Midlands live below the poverty level, with an additional 35% in Richland County falling below the ALICE threshold, meaning nearly half of the local population faces financial hardship. Through this initiative, Ritedose employees will have monthly opportunities to volunteer with organizations such as Homeless No More, Home Works of America, Palmetto Place, and Transitions, all of which provide housing support and other essential services.
“Serving the community is deeply engrained in our culture. It’s a core value and natural part of who we are,” said Janisha Thomas, Chief Human Resource Officer at Ritedose. “Through the ‘1,000 Hours of Purpose’ initiative, we are able to expand our agency partnerships and have an even greater impact in the community. In doing so, we not only serve others, but create opportunities for our employees to bond while supporting worthy causes.”
The initiative builds on Ritedose’s longstanding community engagement efforts. The company plans to continue its participation in events such as the American Heart Association’s Annual Field Day, United Way’s “Ready Set Supply” drive, and the Salvation Army’s Holiday Warehouse program. Ritedose has previously collaborated with SC Thrive, Epworth Children’s Home, Ronald McDonald House, and Harvest Hope Food Bank, among others.
