Samsung Biologics has unveiled ExellenS™, an optimised manufacturing framework designed to enhance performance and consistency across its global biomanufacturing network.
Developed through the company’s accumulated expertise in plant design, digitalisation, and operational excellence, ExellenS™ standardises equipment, processes, and functional specifications to ensure precision and predictability across all facilities. The framework enables faster technology transfers, accelerated regulatory approvals, and seamless scaling for clients.

The framework integrates Functional Design Specifications (FDS) across all plants, replicating standard bioreactor configurations and automation systems while maintaining flexibility for continuous improvement. This unified design model supports consistent results, reduced risks, and streamlined operations that help speed products to market.
ExellenS™ also strengthens supply chain resilience by supporting dual-sourcing and multi-plant production. Unified digital platforms enhance compliance and audit readiness while minimising variability between plants. With a total biomanufacturing capacity of 784,000 litres across five plants, Samsung Biologics plans to expand further through 2032, including at Bio Campus II, home to its recently operational Plant 5.
