Simtra BioPharma Receives $500,000 in READI 2.0 Funding for New Bloomington Facility

  • Simtra BioPharma Solutions is expanding its Bloomington, Indiana campus with a $250 million investment, supported by a $500,000 allocation from READI 2.0 funding.
  • The 150,000-square-foot facility will enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities and create over 130 new jobs.

Simtra BioPharma Solutions, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company, is investing $250 million to expand its sterile fill/finish manufacturing campus in Bloomington, Indiana. The expansion, supported by a $500,000 allocation from the state’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) 2.0, will add a 150,000-square-foot facility dedicated to high-speed filling of syringes and vials.

Simtra BioPharma’s new facility will also include dedicated formulation and compounding rooms. The expansion is expected to enhance the company’s ability to deliver life-saving injectable products to patients. The company broke ground on the facility in June 2024, with construction expected to continue until late 2026.

The $250 million investment will create more than 130 permanent, highly-skilled jobs, with an average salary of $72,000 per year. This expansion will bring Simtra BioPharma’s total workforce at the Bloomington campus to over 1,300 employees. The new facility will be part of a broader campus that includes two warehouses and a 120,000-square-foot inspection and packaging facility.

READI 2.0 is designed to accelerate projects and programs that enhance the state’s economic growth and improve quality of life for Indiana residents. The program is part of Governor Eric J. Holcomb’s 2023 Next Level Agenda and aims to foster job creation and innovation across the state.

“Receiving READI 2.0 funding is a meaningful recognition of Simtra BioPharma Solutions’ deep commitment to Bloomington and Monroe County,” said Ray Guidotti, Chief Operating Officer of Simtra BioPharma Solutions. “This support not only strengthens our partnership with the region but also helps us expand our capacity to deliver life-saving injectable products.”

Bloomington, which is part of the Indiana Uplands region, has earned national recognition for its concentration of medical device and pharmaceutical employment, making it a key location for the expansion. The region is also receiving READI 2.0 funds to support further economic development and talent attraction initiatives.
