- SK pharmteco has opened two expanded manufacturing facilities at its Swords, Ireland, campus, adding capacity for commercial small-molecule APIs and ultra-high-potency APIs (HPAPIs).
- The expansion adds approximately 26.5 m³ of reactor capacity and a kilo-scale GMP facility for HPAPIs and ADC payloads, with batch sizes of up to 0.5–1.5 kg.
SK pharmteco has officially opened two expanded manufacturing facilities at its Swords, Ireland, campus, expanding the site’s capabilities for large-scale commercial small molecules and ultra-high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPIs). The facilities were formally opened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company representatives and local and Korean diplomatic officials.
The new multi-purpose GMP small-molecule API facility adds approximately 26.5 m³ of reactor capacity, including three 8,000-liter glass-lined batch reactors, associated holding capacity and a 4.15 m² Hastelloy agitated filter dryer. The facility has been integrated into the site’s existing infrastructure and is designed to support additional containment and capacity expansion.
The second facility is a kilo-scale GMP HPAPI and ADC payload facility designed for compounds with occupational exposure limits as low as 10 ng/m³. It supports batch sizes of 0.5–1.5 kg and includes reactor capacity of up to 30 liters, rigid and flexible isolators, high-pressure chromatography, tray drying and lyophilization. The facility is located alongside existing ultra-high-potency laboratories and manufacturing facilities.
SK pharmteco said the two facilities will support pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers across development and commercial manufacturing. The company said the Swords campus can now provide capabilities spanning complex small molecules, HPAPIs and targeted therapies from clinical development through commercial supply.
